13 Sep 2005 Pirates captured in Guildford!! Vivid Imaginations, the UK’s number one toy company have been appointed as master toy licensee for the next two Disney Pirates Of The Caribbean movies, set for summer release in 2006 and 2007. The first, due for UK release next July title Pirates Of The Caribbean –Dead Man’s Chest will again feature all the stars from the record-breaking first movie, namely Jonny Depp, Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom.
“We’ll make Pirates Of The Caribbean 2 the biggest boys toy retail event next year,” Vivid’s CEO Nick Austin confidently predicts. “The combination of the timeless appeal of pirates , a great cast , Disney’s marketing and film-making prowess and Vivid’s retail relationships and advertising muscle make Pirates Of The Caribbean the most powerful franchise to hit the toy market next year.”
Clearly the prospect of an already-proven successful movie franchise, two back-to-back sequels and DVD releases and the eponymous theme-park ride give the property the awareness and longevity that retailers crave for in these risk-averse times.
The product line will be available in June and will be heavily TV advertised with a 1,050 TVR campaign from July to December. Action figures, pirate ships and role play toys will form the core of the toy offering with domestic and fob options ensuring attractive retail margins. Retail price points will range from £5 to £50 to meet all purchase occasions.
The Pirates Of The Caribbean toy line – developed by hot new-start Chicago-based toy company Zizzle Inc is currently under development and Vivid Imaginations will reveal for the first time from November at previews in their Guildford office.
